Have your say on how we consult on planning issues

Our Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) aims to show you how and when you can become involved in the planning system and what to expect from us when you do. We want your views on our updated SCI to ensure that we are consulting effectively.

Background

Our SCI describes how we will involve communities, businesses and organisations in the preparation of the County Durham Plan and on planning application decisions. It also sets out our advice on how town and parish councils and Neighbourhood Forums should seek to involve and consult on the preparation of Neighbourhood Plans.

What are we doing?

Our current SCI was created in 2016 and since them there have been changes to the Neighbourhood Planning Act (2017) and the Town & Country Planning (Permission in Principle) Order 2017). We now need to refresh the document and are consulting you on the updates.

Have your say

We would like to hear from anyone who lives, works or visits the county or who has an interest in the neighbourhood planning information. Note: apart from neighbourhood planning, no other changes have been made to the document.

The closing date for comments was 4.30pm on 3 August 2018.

Note: all comments will be added to our planning consultation system. Your name will be published, and we can't consider any comments that do not include a valid name. This is because this is a statutory consultation and the Planning Inspector may wish us to validate the comment at a later date.

What happens next?

Responses to the consultation will be considered in finalising the SCI document. The document will then be presented to a future meeting of our Cabinet for approval before adoption.
