English and maths courses

Our maths and English courses are a great way to build confidence, improve skills and get a nationally recognised qualification if you wish. You can choose from classroom based learning, distance learning, or blended learning which is a mixture of both.

Whatever your level, our experienced tutors will help you choose the best course to help you achieve your goals. You will work at your own pace, focusing on the skills you feel are most important to help you meet your personal and professional needs.

Use the Enquire about DurhamLearn courses to ask for further information on any of our courses, or alternatively you can contact us by phone or email.

Learning styles

Distance learning will give you access to weekly online tutorial sessions with your tutor and an online learning programme that is tailored to meet your learning needs. You will need access to a computer/laptop and the internet to complete these. Exams will be carried out face to face following government advice and safety measures.

Classroom learning will see you join fellow learners in a classroom environment for face-to-face sessions with your tutor and the change to socialise and make new friends while learning.

Blended learning is a mixture of face-to-face classes and online learning. You will attend sessions in-person with your tutor every week as well as completing a minimum of two hours of your online programme each week in your own time.

Maths

Learn and practise skills like calculating, measuring, and working with fractions, decimals and percentages confidently. Learn how to apply your skills to maths in everyday situations. Whether you want to simply boost your confidence, do a short coursework-based qualification, work towards a Functional Skills exam, or do all three - we have the course for you.

Self-study time in online and blended learning classes can include one-to-one tutor support if agreed in advance.

Please note we can enrol you on a course after the start date has passed.
