Half-term activities at County Durham parks
From Lego to building recycled robots - there's lots to do for families with young children in County Durham parks this half-term.
At Durham's Wharton Park, children can try and find robots hidden around the grounds each day from Saturday 25 May to Sunday 2 June. Trail sheets cost £1 and can be bought from the café between 10am and 4pm. Youngsters who find all the robots get a sticker.
Lego workshops runs in the park's education room on Tuesday 28 May, delivered by Block Parties. One hour workshops for children aged four and over run between 10.30am and 3.15pm and cost £4.50, with advanced booking required.
Robots are again the theme at Wharton Park on Wednesday 29 May. Children can create their own robot made from recycled items in two hour workshops in the park's education room. Our Recycle for County Durham team will be attending to educate families about the importance of recycling. The workshops run from 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm and cost £6, with advanced booking required.
The park's 'Spring Corner' storytelling sessions then returns on Friday 31 May with The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle. Sessions run from 10am to 11.30am and 1pm to 2.30pm and cost £4 per child, with advanced booking required.

At Sedgefield's Hardwick Park, the Enchanted Village Park Trail is on daily from Saturday 25 May to Sunday 2 June. Trail sheets cost £1 and can be bought from the gift shop during opening hours. Children who find all the miniature houses that make up the enchanted village get a sticker.
A Marvellous Mermaids and Nautical Neptune craft session runs at Hardwick on Tuesday 28 May between 11am and 4pm. Entry is £3 per child with booking not required.
A dragon den building session runs at the park on Wednesday 29 May from 1pm to 2.30pm. The cost is £6 per child and advanced booking is required.
Fairy Houses and Magical Kingdoms are the subject of a workshop with local artist Kay Henderson on Thursday 30 May between 11am and 3pm. Entry is £8.50 per child and advanced booking is required.
