Public health data and insight

The health and wellbeing of our residents is shaped not only by lifestyle and behavioural factors (such as smoking, obesity and alcohol harm) but also by a wide variety of social, economic and environmental factors (such as poverty, housing, ethnicity, place of residence, education, and environment).

Analysis and assessment of these themes has been developed into a series of Integrated Needs Assessment (INA) factsheets and provide a wide range of evidence-based information that Public Health use to shape the services and interventions we commission. These can be accessed through the Durham Insight website.

Durham Insight

Durham Insight contains a range of shared intelligence and population data for our county. The website is used for informing strategic planning across the council and its partners, and by thematic partnerships. It provides users with an easy way to access information, intelligence, research and knowledge for deeper insights about their local area or communities.

Infographics and story maps

We have produced some local infographics broken down into local areas such as AAPs and Clinical Commissioning Groups. These story maps relate to the health issues across our county. Understanding these differences helps us to focus our attention to ensure our local people can 'start well, live well and age well'.

To look at your local area information visit Durham Insight: infographics and story maps.

Local Authority Health Profiles

Population data is also produced by Public Health England and called Local Authority Health Profiles. These profiles provide an overview of health for each council in England. They pull together existing information in one place and contain data on a range of indicators for local populations.
