Ways to sign up and pay for garden waste collections
You can use a number of payment methods to subscribe to garden waste collections.
Please make sure you have read our garden waste collections terms and conditions first. The terms and conditions have been updated for 2019.
Subscribe to the garden waste collection scheme online. You don't need your garden waste reference number to subscribe online.
Please note: if you have subscribed by 14 February you'll get all 17 collections. You can still subscribe after this date, and we'll arrange for your collections to start as soon as possible and you'll receive the remaining collections before the scheme ends for the year in November.
Other ways to subscribe
For all other methods, you will need the letter we are sending to all eligible properties in January 2018. This includes a property reference number and barcode. If your property is eligible for garden waste collections and you don't have a reference number you can Subscribe to the garden waste collection scheme or contact us at garden waste.
Please note, your garden waste reference number is unique to your property so it is important you only use the reference number allocated to your property. If you try to subscribe using a different reference number, your property will not be registered for garden waste collections.
If you already have a garden waste bin, contact us through our automated payment line, select the garden waste option and quote your garden waste reference number.
If you don't already have a garden waste bin or would like to arrange collections from more than one bin, contact us at garden waste. You don't need your garden waste reference number to phone garden waste.
Take your cash payment to a post office or PayPoint outlet along with your letter. You will need the barcode at the top of the letter to make your payment.
We can only accept cheques by post, please do not send cash. Make your cheque payable to Durham County Council, write your eight digit garden waste reference on the back of the cheque and send it to:
