The leaders of the seven local councils, the North of Tyne Mayor and Northumbria's Police and Crime Commissioner encourage people to work together to move out of Tier 3 as quickly and as safely as possible.

Chester-le-Street and District AAP priorities

Every two years we give local people the opportunity to vote for the priorities that they think we should take action on and on where we should focus our funding and resources.

We are updating our AAP Facebook page with any local information regarding the coronavirus. This includes changes to services or support in your area.

We use the results of the vote, statistical information (you can view this on Durham AAP - profile) and local knowledge to make a decision on what our priorities should be for the coming year. If you want to see a detailed breakdown of the results from the most recent vote, contact us.

Once we set our priorities, we use these priorities to help us decide where we should look to take action and allocate funding.

Current priorities

Chester-le-Street and District AAP's current priorities are:

  • Thriving Chester-le-Street: Focusing on Town Centre Development and Employment
  • Supporting Chester-le-Street
  • Environment and Community Safety

We will review these priorities in March 2020.

Thriving Chester-le-Street: Focusing on Town Centre Development and Employment

This group looks at the development of the town centre and employment.

Supporting Chester-le-Street

This group focusses on health, children, young people and families and welfare reform.

Environment and Community Safety

This group looks at neighbourhood issues including environment, crime and community safety.

Task and finish groups

We take actions on issues linked to our priorities. To do this, we have priority task and finish groups. These groups are made up of board and forum members and representatives from relevant partner organisations.

At task group meetings, we identify and discuss issues linked to our priorities, and we consider project ideas and requests for funding linked to these issues. If we want to progress any project ideas, we then send them to the board for approval.

If you're interested in getting involved with one of the task and finish groups or would like to discuss an idea you may have for a project, contact us.
