Situation in Ukraine

Published February 28, 2022 8.28pm

We are shocked and saddened by current events in Ukraine.

We are liaising closely with our partners to ensure that we are able to provide any support to those affected in County Durham.

We are aware that residents may also want to offer their support. We have been advised by the British Red Cross that the most effective way of this at the current time is via cash donations, which can be made online via the British Red Cross or by calling 0300 023 0820.

The Red Cross is advising that they are not sending volunteers or donated goods to Ukraine at this time and has asked us to encourage people to contribute through donations. Further information on the reasons for this is available on the British Red Cross.
