Other ways to recycle your garden waste if you are not in the scheme.

Our 2021 garden waste scheme is no longer open for new subscriptions. Information on our 2022 scheme will be available later in the year.

Other ways to dispose of garden waste

These are also useful options if you have garden waste to get rid of when the service is suspended during the winter.

  • Use a home compost bin: garden waste such as grass cuttings, weeds and old plants are all suitable for composting and compost bins.
  • Take it to one of our household waste recycling centres (tips) (tips).
  • Arrange a bulky waste collection: if you are unable to compost or visit a household waste recycling centre, you can have up to six bags of garden waste removed as bulky waste - there is a charge for this service.

It is not illegal to have a bonfire and burn your garden waste, but it is important you do not cause a nuisance or endanger your neighbours' property.
