Support for anyone affected by cancer


You can access practical and personal support if you are aged 18 and over, and have been affected by cancer.

What is Joining the Dots?

Macmillan Joining the Dots County Durham is a free, personal service for people aged 18 and over who have been diagnosed with cancer. We can also provide support for friends, carers and relatives of those with a cancer diagnosis.

Contact Joining the Dots for more information or to ask for support. You don't have to go through a doctor or nurse to use this service.

We can support you with the following issues during your diagnosis, or that of someone you care for:

  • family/relationships
  • physical
  • lifestyle/information
  • emotional
  • spiritual/religious
  • practical/money

Even if you think you don't need help and support right now, we can listen to you and make sure that you have the right information and support when you need it.

How can we help?

Let us know what concerns you have and we can help with one-to-one support.

This support might include:

  • money advice
  • support around work
  • advice on transport to appointments
  • support around home life
  • emotional support
  • information to help you make decisions
  • healthy eating and being more active
  • wills and getting your affairs in order
  • family and carer support
