Your local Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) or tip, is the place to recycle and dispose of household waste. You can only use these facilities if you live in the Durham County Council area.
Find out what you can recycle, size restrictions and how to apply for a permit.
If you're getting new furniture, or have unwanted furniture which you want to get rid of, contact one of the county's furniture reuse schemes. They will collect and make use of your old items.
We provide a range of road safety education and training.
Roads and pavement information including roadworks, improvements schemes, gritting and maintenance, potholes, street lighting, road safety and MOT testing.
