These are our recommended dates but aided schools and academies can set different dates. Please check with your school.

Additional teacher training days

Schools also close for teacher training days during term-time. Dates are decided by each school and you should check your child's school website for the dates as these can often change.

• There are 192 days in the 2024/25 school year. Schools will close for two of these days for teacher training (known as PD days). They will also have teacher training on a further three days which they will take during school holidays or by using twilight sessions.
• There are 193 days in the 2025/26 school year. Schools will close for three of these days for teacher training (known as PD days). They will also have teacher training on a further two days which they will take during school holidays or by using twilight sessions.
• There are 195 days in the 2026/27 school year. Up to five of these days will be used by schools for teacher training (known as PD days). Teacher training days are decided by individual schools and your school will let you know which days they will be closed.
