Lumiere information for businesses and residents

Information for people living and working in Durham City who may be affected by Lumiere Durham.

Special arrangements are in place to allow access to people living or working in the central peninsula area. Information about this was sent to affected addresses and businesses within the city area in October. If you have not received this information please contact lumiere@durham.gov.uk with your address details.

Restaurants and businesses that operate by appointment, and which are based in the central peninsula area, will be able to issue access passes to customers who have bookings during festival times.

You can apply online for a Lumiere Business and Resident Gold Pass (Gold Passes will be available from Monday 10 October).

  • Each household can apply for up to six Gold Passes.
  • Businesses can apply for Gold Passes to allow their staff to access the controlled central zone during festival hours.

The deadline for businesses applying for and collecting their Gold Passes is Wednesday 15 November.

Gold Passes will be issued by colleges to students who live in the central peninsula or who need to attend lectures during the festival.

For home delivery services who need to pick up delivery orders from restaurants within the central peninsula area, Deliveroo uniforms and orders will be recognised by staff at entry points. There will be access over Claypath and Kingsgate only during peak hours.
