Castleside Cemetery

This page has information about Castleside Cemetery at Consett.

In 1995, an extension to Castleside Cemetery created an additional 189 burial spaces.

The garden of remembrance, created in 2006, is a place of quiet reflection. The garden has been designed and planted following suggestions from bereaved families. Extensive tree and shrub management has served to greatly increase the diversity of species within the cemetery, as well as providing a range of different types of habitat.

Memorials in the cemetery have been inspected and made safe where necessary.

The cemetery has a Green Flag Award. These awards recognise well managed parks and open spaces for all to enjoy. The Green Flag Awards are the benchmark national standard for parks and green spaces in the UK.
