South Road Cemetery

The cemetery and Durham Crematorium are situated on a site covering approximately seven and a half hectares. The cemetery handles around 65 burials a year and is regularly visited by relatives and the general public.

The floral display, shrubs and trees provide a haven for wildlife and birds.

The cemetery has a Green Flag Award. These awards recognise well managed parks and open spaces for all to enjoy. The Green Flag Awards are the benchmark national standard for parks and green spaces in the UK.

The cemetery is situated just outside Durham City Centre on South Road (A177). The entrance is clearly signposted.

Our cemeteries are open dawn to dusk for pedestrian access.
