How much does a certificate cost?
Information about the charges for certificates of birth, death, marriage and civil partnerships.
The cost of the certificate depends on which service you require. The following costs are for copies of certificates held in The Register Office, The Story, Mount Oswald, Durham:

| £12.50 | Collection | In person after a minimum of five working days, from The register office at The Story. |
| £12.50 | Post | By post within five working days, using 2nd class post. |
| £12.50 | Post | Outside of the UK, we aim to deliver within 28 days. |
| £38.50 | Collection | In person on the same day from The register office at The Story (collection between 10.00am and 4.00pm) |
| £38.50 | Post | By post the same day via 1st class post (order must be received by 12 noon) |
If you order a copy of a certificate and we are unable to find any trace of the record or do not hold the record, a search fee of £3.00 will be deducted from the amount refunded
