There is currently a problem with our image galleries. We are working to get them fixed. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Spectrum Leisure Centre

The member has just joined this year in July. His daughter used to be a gym member here and knew we had a Cree group. She brought him along as his wife died during between the first and second Covid lockdowns and it was not until her mother died that she realised how much her parents had relied on each other for everything.

How did Cree support?

The group has supported Participant A in the following ways:

  • Weekly phone calls during lockdown
  • Creative prompts given via letters and during cree sessions
  • Box of Inspiration - a project with inspirational creative postcards and a pocket of hope created by the cree group
  • Visits to the arts centre facility where he has been able to socialise with the rest of the group
  • Signposting course on help to sleep
  • Access to enriching arts via The Greenfield Gallery - recent exhibition is Bill Hindmarsh 'People and Place'

What has the impact been?

Support has been given through social contact with me and members of the group.  On his initial visit, I sat with him and talked through his issues and worries before introducing him to the group.  He, like all the members of the group, is aware that he can talk to me if needed and ask for support as and when required.  As part of my job, I am in contact with other local organisations and an opportunity has arisen for this person to become involved in a breakfast group elsewhere.

Quote

"I feel I have something to look forward to each week and being part of the group makes me feel less alone."
