Getting around Sedgefield and Fishburn survey

Take part in a travel survey for Sedgefield, Fishburn, Mordon, Bradbury, Thorpe Larches and the surrounding area (the Sedgefield ward of County Durham).

Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation. We received 386 responses. Details of comments can be found in the Icon for pdf Getting Around in Sedgefield and Fishburn consultation report (PDF, 174.7kb)

Background

We are working in partnership with Sedgefield Town Council, and the Sedgefield Bicycle and Active Travel Project (part of Sedgefield Development Trust) to make improvements to how people can get around our towns and villages.

We want to make this area more accessible however you get about - on foot, on bicycle, using mobility aids or with a pram or pushchair.

We also want to address road safety, traffic management and congestion as well as air quality and aggressive driving.

We are already working on:

  • new bicycle stands and racks in the centre of Sedgefield
  • extra public charging points for electric vehicles
  • improvements to some footpaths and cycleways

Help us shape future plans

We want to know your ideas and views for changes that will make it easier for you to get around, and also move between the different towns and villages. These will be used to help us decide which projects we focus on in the short and long term.

We will be visiting the villages over the next few weeks, attending local events and talking to people in the community to ask them for their ideas.

Have your say

What happens next

It is important for you to understand that we may not be able to achieve everything that you want. The next few years are going to be financially challenging, and we have to take into other considerations such as policy and legislation. However, your views will guide us as we work with other organisations to develop future plans in the area, and to secure funding where we can.
