Have your say on outdoor sports facilities in Chester-le-Street
Residents are invited to have their say on how to ensure outdoor sporting facilities in Chester-le-Street meet the needs of local communities and are as sustainable as possible.
We are planning to develop outdoor facilities and services at the town's Riverside complex and are keen to also understand how to make continued best use of the Roseberry playing fields facilities.
Revised plans
Responses from a leisure conversation which was held earlier in the year show support for plans to transform provision in the town. Having further reviewed this feedback, the council has adapted some aspects of its proposal in response and is now asking residents to have their say on the revised plans.
Cllr James Rowlandson, Cabinet member for resources, investments and assets, said: "Our leisure conversation this summer, which focused on initial plans for the Riverside, was extremely useful. It allowed us to understand the views of local residents and users of the sites.
"It is important that we consider the wider mix of facilities across our outdoor sports sites in Chester-le-Street. We would therefore urge all residents and users to share their views on our updated plans. Telling us what would encourage them to become more active more often, have fun and get moving more will allow us to deliver the best possible facilities and activities for people of all ages and abilities."
How to comment
Current and potential users of both sites, including clubs and groups, are encouraged to share their views.
People have until 5pm on Wednesday 11 January to have their say by completing an online survey or by visiting an in-person drop-in session.
