About the Vice-Chair


The Vice-Chair of Durham County Council is Cllr Patricia Jopling who represents the Crook electoral division.

    Personal life

    Originally from Croydon in Surrey, Cllr Jopling left school at 15 to work for an insurance company. She started her own business at the age of 22 and has been self-employed for more than 45 years, running a hotel, restaurant, ice cream parlour and catering businesses, initially in Hastings in East Sussex and then in County Durham.

    She is married to Gavin and has two children, four grown up grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

    Cllr Jopling was elected to Wear Valley District Council in 2007 before joining Durham County Council, where she represents the Crook electoral division.

    Her hobbies include gardening, cooking, interior design, crafts, socialising and spending time with friends and family.
