Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
This course is elearning and available through the Care Academy. It is designed to help you to learn about the Mental Capacity Act 2005, the 5 key principles, to be aware of how the Act works, and to put this into practice in your role. If you are undertaking a level 2 or 3 health and social care diploma, your learning from this course can help you to evidence the criteria for your qualification.
Who the course is for
This course is for all health and social care staff.
Learning method
The course is an elearning course consisting of seven modules. You must complete all sections to complete the assessment at the end of the course. It will take you approximately 60 minutes to complete.

- how capacity is assessed and what's involved
- how capacity can fluctuate
- how capacity is protected lawfully
- advanced decision and care planning
