He has walked extensively in Co Durham as a Pilgrimage Consultant for Durham Diocese.

He joined the LAF with the aim of contributing to footpath development as a whole in the county and in relation to the Northern Saints Trails, which he developed based on ancient pilgrimage routes. 

He said, "I am keen to ensure the routes are well maintained and that affordable accommodation for those on low budgets is improved. I also have a particular interest in developing pilgrimages along the routes for those with mental health issues."
