Free guided walks return to Seaham
A popular series of guided walks in a County Durham coastal town will return this month.
Following the success of last year's programme, we will once again be offering free walking tours around Seaham and the town's coastline.
Route and times
Starting at Seaham Hall Beach car park and ending at Seaham Marina, walkers will take a stroll through the town to hear about its fascinating history while enjoying the views of the heritage coastline.
The guided walks take approximately two hours and are buggy and dog friendly. They will be conducted by a blue badge guide who is a member of the Guild of British Tourist Guides.
The guided walks will take place at 1pm on:
- Saturday 8 June
- Thursday 18 July
- Thursday 8 August
- Saturday 24 August
For more information about the walks, or to book a place, email SeahamTownscapeHeritage@durham.gov.uk or call either 07795 304980 or 07818 510314.
Fascinating history
Cllr Elizabeth Scott, our Cabinet member for economy and partnerships, said: "After proving popular with walkers last year, we are excited to be bringing back our free guided walks in Seaham. The tours are a perfect opportunity to take an easy walk and enjoy the stunning coastline that we have, while also learning about the town's fascinating history. It's also a great chance to get some fresh air, light exercise, and socialise with like-minded people. We hope to see you there."
The walks are being delivered as part of our Seaham Townscape Heritage Project, a £1.6m scheme aimed at enhancing Seaham's historic town centre supported by funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, made possible thanks to National Lottery players.
