News-Call out for local artists
Local artists are being given an opportunity to showcase their work to the public.
Bishop Auckland Town Hall is welcoming applications for its annual Open Art Exhibition, starting in December.

Artists who live, work or study in the Durham County Council area can apply to show up to three pieces of artwork in our venue.
Cllr Elizabeth Scott, our Cabinet member for economy and partnerships, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for our local artists to showcase their work and make themselves proud. Last year, we received an unprecedented number of applications and the quality of work was outstanding.
"We were able to display 189 pieces of art from 99 artists, making it a real celebration of local talent. We can't wait to welcome submissions for this year and look forward to sharing in the delight of visitors when these fantastic pieces of work go on display."
Application forms can be requested from BATHGallery@durham.gov.uk and these should be submitted no later than 5pm on Tuesday 1 October.
Successful applicants will be informed later that month.
Range of mediums
Submissions can include drawings, paintings, textiles, sculpture, digital art and photography and can be either wall mounted or free standing. These will then be assessed by a panel to ensure that a wide range of mediums and genres are displayed in the town hall's Gallery.
Young artists aged 11 to 18 can submit two pieces of artwork with parental, carer or guardian consent as part of the venue's Youth Open Call.
