Local Land Charges search

When you buy a house or plot of land, your solicitor will make a search application to our Local Land Charges section. The search will show what information we have regarding that particular property or plot of land.

What information do we keep at the council?

We keep a statutory register which contains information about the property, including whether things such as planning permission, tree preservation orders or smoke control orders are in place.

What information do we need to carry out the search?

So that we can deal with your search request promptly, your solicitor will need to send us the following:

  • Two copies of your completed LLC1 and Con29 forms, only available to solicitors via the Oyez Forms system which must clearly show the address to which you want us to send the search results.
  • Two copies of the up-to-date site/location plan, which must show surrounding roads and properties.
  • The full and accurate postal address of the property to which the search relates.
  • A cheque made payable to 'Durham County Council' for the correct fee.

How much will this cost?
