Our Development Management roles
Assistant Planning Officers:Handle a range of applications and pre-application inquiries and appeals, including minor planning and Listed Building applications, advertisement consent, householder planning applications, applications for works to trees, and discharge of conditions.
Planning Officers:Manage a wide range of planning applications, appeals and pre-application inquiries, including small-scale major development proposals. Due to our large and diverse area, officers can specialise in specific fields such as heritage, rural issues, regeneration projects, or infrastructure projects.
Senior Planning Officers:These are varied roles involving more complex planning proposals at both the pre-application and application and appeal stages. Depending on your level of experience, you will be supported by the Principal Planning Officer to determine large-scale housing proposals, commercial developments, infrastructure proposals, renewable energy projects, and minerals and waste developments. Experienced officers have the opportunity to lead and shape major projects and/or supervise more junior officers.
Principal Planning Officers:Directly manage their respective teams and hold delegated authority to determine planning matters. Principal Officers also lead on more complex proposals and carry a small caseload of applications.
Area/Strategic Planning Managers:Provide oversight of our area, enforcement, and strategic planning teams.
Our Enforcement/Monitoring roles
Enforcement Assistants:Investigate a range of minor alleged breaches of planning control negotiating solutions with owners/developers.
Monitoring, and Monitoring and Compliance Officers:Ensure that developments (including minerals and waste developments) are carried in accordance with approved details, conditions, and planning obligations. They negotiate solutions to breaches of planning control and take formal action where appropriate.
Enforcement Officers:Investigate a wide range of alleged breaches of planning control, addressing issues through a combination of negotiation and formal action. Work includes appeals and court action where necessary.
Senior Enforcement Officers:Investigate, and deal with a wide range of the more complex alleged breaches of planning control, leading on formal action, appeals and court action where necessary.
Principal Enforcement Officers:Directly manage the enforcement team, providing direction on the correct course of action to regularise breaches of planning control.
