News-Briefing session for prospective election candidates and agents
A further briefing session is to be held for prospective candidates and agents at forthcoming elections in County Durham.
Elections to Durham County Council, and parish and town councils in our local authority area, are being held on Thursday 1 May 2025.
Anyone considering standing is invited to attend the briefing session, at which guidance will be provided on the election process. This will be held via Microsoft Teams on Tuesday 18 March at 12.30pm.
Anyone who wishes to attend can register their interest by completing the request form, which can be found in the "Standing as a Candidate?" section at our elections web page.
Prospective candidates are also being reminded that nomination papers can be submitted from Friday 21 March 2025. This must be done in person between the hours of 10am and 4pm, to the nominations team in the Durham Room at County Hall, Durham, DH1 5UL. The deadline to submit nomination papers is 4pm on Wednesday 2 April 2025.
Anyone wanting to stand as a candidate at the county or parish elections can ask for a nomination pack by completing the request form, which can also be found in the "Standing as a Candidate?" section at our elections web page.
