The end of the war


By 1945 victory was finally in sight. In the Far East, the 2nd Battalion took part in the long advance out of India and down into Burma. Meanwhile in Europe, whilst only the 9th Battalion DLI joined the final advance into Nazi Germany that led to the Allies' victory parade in Berlin, other Durham battalions fought in Italy.
