Following a steep rise in cases across the region, the whole of the North East has been named as an area that will receive additional support. You can read the latest statement from LA7 leaders. There are no additional restrictions on the area or residents but with cases of Covid higher than ever before everyone is asked to continue to act carefully and responsibly. Free parking after 2.00pm in Durham County Council on street and off street car parks across the county from 1 April 2021 - no ticket needed.
Offer excludes car parks at Hardwick Park in Sedgefield, Wharton Park Durham, or Riverside Park in Chester-le-Street (consisting of South Ropery Lane, North Ropery Lane and the Donald Owen Clark car parks).

Pay a bus lane fine


If you drive in a bus lane, bus gate or bus-only street in County Durham when you should not, you may receive a fine through the post called a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).

Pay/appeal against a bus lane fine (Penalty Charge Notice) online. Please note that the ticket details may not appear online until 24 hours after the fine has been issued.

The cost of the fine

A bus lane fine is £60, reduced to £30 if paid within 14 days. You have 28 pays to pay it.
