Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
Some people living in care homes can't always make their own decisions about where to live or how to be cared for, so they need extra care and protection to ensure they don't suffer harm.
This may mean restricting their freedom to the point of depriving them of their liberty by ways such as preventing them from leaving or monitoring them very closely to keep them safe. The Local Authority scrutinize these arrangements to ensure they are appropriate.
