Fostering Friendly Status
We are delighted to announced that we have become a Fostering Friendly employer. This status is awarded by the national charity The Fostering Network and helps organisations to adopt policies that make it easier for staff to combine working with being a foster carer.
What our new status means
Any of our staff who are also foster carers can now benefit from increased flexibility, allowing them to more easily attend things like meetings with social workers, medical appointments and take time off to settle new children into their home when they first join the family. We've chosen to do this as part of our commitment to providing loving homes to children in our care, but also as part of our wider Workforce Strategy, where one of our priority areas is 'being a good employer'.
How other businesses can join us
As part of our commitment to provide loving homes for children in our care, we are now looking for more organisations and businesses to join us as Fostering Friendly employers. This will help even more people across the county to become foster carers.
The process is a simple one and The Fostering Network offers guidance and support to get set up, including templates for any business wanting to put a policy in place. Their The Fostering Network: fostering friendly advice pages have lots of helpful information on how to get started.
We would love more organisations to join us on this journey to creating even more fostering friendly workplaces in our county.
