Autumn Adventures at Hardwick Park
Don't squirrel away your Saturdays! Join the parks and countryside team as we explore, create and get active during our autumn adventures. Alongside their chosen activity each participant will be given an autumn adventure pack with activities, challenges and lots of juicy facts bursting from the pages. 

The Welly Walk 

Friday 15 October to Friday 29 October

Back by popular demand, collect your trail sheet from the Gift Shop or Café and hop, skip, squelch and splash your way around the park.

Trail sheets cost £1.00 and are available during opening hours.

Woodland Trick or Treat

Friday 29 and Sunday 31 October 

Is it a trick? Is it a treat? You better be nimble on your feet! Find the woodland witches and wizards, solve their riddles and complete their challenges in this Halloween quest amongst the trees of Hardwick Park. Costumes can be worn but please remember they may become dirty or damaged during the activities. Suitable for children aged 5+.

The activity trail will begin at the yurt garden and will end at the west end of the Serpentine Lake.

We will need to be aware of allergies and dietary requirements. This event is fully outdoors so please wear weather appropriate clothing.

Day of the Dead Trail

Saturday 23 October to Sunday 31 October

Our Halloween trail is inspired by the Day of the dead. Purchase your trail sheet from the café between Saturday 23 October and Sunday 31 October and search for the items hidden around the park. Each one will help you learn more about the Mexican traditions relating to this special festival.

£1.00 per trail sheet, available between 10.00am and 4.00pm. No pre-booking required.

Love Exploring Space Walk and Halloween Dance Trail 

Download the 'Love Exploring' app, find the augmented reality planets and complete the themed quiz questions on this fun, interactive walk around the park. This half term our spooky friends have risen from the dead once again. Can you find them all and watch them dance? (23 October to 31 October).

The app is available on Apple and Android devices, but is not compatible with all mobile phones. Please check you can access all features of the trail before your visit.

Covid-19 information

We are continuing to deliver our sessions to family bubbles to encourage social distancing and keep everyone safe. Sessions will also need to be booked in advance.

Pre-activity information will be sent to you in advance of the event via email. If you do not receive this information, please contact our Education Team by emailing outdoorlearning@durham.gov.uk.

Any individual, or if they have someone in their household, who is showing symptoms of or has tested positive for Covid-19 will be advised not to come to attend the booked activity and to remain at home.
