Hardwick Park events


Hardwick Park is a country park with a difference, a Visit England accredited attraction, and a great place to visit at any time of the year. Find the latest park news and details of our current events and activities.

Our café offers a takeaway service of light lunches, snacks and drinks between 10.00am and 3.30pm daily (times may vary). Our gift shop is open from 11.00am to 4.00pm (weekends and school holidays only). 

Toilets are open daily from 10.00am to 4.00pm and are cleaned regularly. Hand washing facilities are available in our toilets.

To reduce the risk of catching or spreading coronavirus, we encourage you to continue to practice social distancing when meeting with others and wear a face covering in our indoor spaces.

Our exhibition area remains closed.

Toddler Tales and Trails - The Gruffalo

Wednesday 15 and Saturday 18 September 2021

Hardwick Park Outdoor Learning Area

Based on the book The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson

Fun sessions for younger children involving craft activities, storytelling and interactive park trails. Adapted to follow current guidelines and taking place fully outdoors.

Workshops will last 1 hour 30 minutes and can be booked for the following time slots (15 child spaces per session);

10.00am-11.30am

1.00pm-2.30pm

Suitable for children approximately 2 to 5 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult (One adult per child due to social distancing)

Normal parking charges apply.

Booking is essential.

Wednesday 13 and Saturday 16 October 2021

Fun sessions for younger children involving craft activities, storytelling and interactive park trails. Adapted to follow current guidelines and taking place fully outdoors.

Autumn Adventures at Hardwick Park

Don't squirrel away your Saturdays! Join the parks and countryside team as we explore, create and get active during our autumn adventures. Alongside their chosen activity each participant will be given an autumn adventure pack with activities, challenges and lots of juicy facts bursting from the pages. 

Saturday 25 September: Berries and Bunting 

Explore natural printing, paints and dyes during this workshop where you will produce your own bunting inspired by Autumn. 

Time slots available between 10.00am and 2.00pm, each session will last approx. 45 minutes

£5.00 each (eight places per timeslot) due to reduced capacity only one accompanying adult per child.

Saturday 9 October: Autumn Weaving and Leaf Wrapping 

Investigate the colours and shapes of autumn, by collecting and using natural materials to create and make wonderful pieces of art to take home. Perfect for children learning about the seasons.

Time slots available between 10.00am and 2.00pm, each session will last approx. 45 minutes

£5.00 each (Eight places per timeslot) due to reduced capacity only one accompanying adult per child.

Saturday 23 October: Hedgehog Hibernation Boxes 

Providing safe nesting places for hedgehogs as we approach the winter months is crucial, join our rangers in the building of your very own hedgehog hide away

Time slots available between 10.00am and 2.30pm, each session will last approx. 45 minutes

£18.00 each

Friday 15 October to Friday 29 October: The Welly Walk 

Back by popular demand, collect your trail sheet from the Gift Shop or Café and hop, skip, squelch and splash your way around the park.

Trail sheets cost £1.00 and are available during opening hours.

Love Exploring Space Walk

Download the 'Love Exploring' app, find the augmented reality planets and complete the themed quiz questions on this fun, interactive walk around the park.

The app is available on Apple and Android devices, but is not compatible with all mobile phones. Please check you can access all features of the trail before your visit.

Covid-19 information

From Monday 19 July, we will continue to deliver our sessions to family bubbles to encourage social distancing and keep everyone safe. Sessions will also need to be booked in advance.

Any individual, or if they have someone in their household, who is showing symptoms of or has tested positive for Covid-19 will be advised not to come to attend the booked activity and to remain at home.
