School keep clear markings

The over-riding priority around schools is the safety of children. Parents who choose to take their children to school by car must obey the parking regulations in place.

Where single or double yellow lines are present, drivers can stop to pick up or drop off children, but waiting for passengers is not permitted. When picking up or dropping off your child, you must stay with your vehicle at all times unless your child needs help getting into or out of your vehicle.

The child must be ready to leave as soon as you arrive, otherwise you must move your vehicle to an appropriate parking place. If you have to wait for the child to be released or a teacher wishes to speak to you, you must move your vehicle to a parking place and, if required, display a valid permit or pay and display ticket.

Outside the vast majority of schools in the county, yellow 'School Keep Clear' markings have been provided. No vehicle, including those displaying a blue badge, is allowed to stop on these markings for any reason during the hours stated on the accompanying signs. Any vehicle parking on these markings may be issued with a parking fine.
