Respiratory conditions


This course is delivered in partnership with North East Ambulance Service (NEAS).

The respiratory conditions course has been designed to give you an understanding of the most prevalent and common conditions that an individual can experience. It helps you to have a basic understanding of the anatomy of the respiratory system and how conditions including asthma, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chest infections and Covid-19 effect someone, identifying common signs and symptoms and basic treatment to help manage these in the community.

Who the course is for

This course is designed for all staff working in Health and Social Care, it is also suitable as a refresher training for nurses.

Learning method

The course is delivered by North East Ambulance Service paramedic trainer via a 2-hour webinar followed by a multiple-choice online assessment.

What you will learn

Understand what the respiratory system is and functions

Looking at different respiratory conditions, signs and symptoms and management/ treatment/ preventions including:

  • Asthma
  • COPD
  • Chest infections / pneumonia
  • Covid-19

Course benefits

This course will help professionals understand some of the main respiratory conditions, gaining the knowledge to different conditions a patient may suffer and how to manage these patients.

  • Thursday 5 September 2024 - 11.30am to 1.30pm
  • Tuesday 26 November 2024 - 2.00pm to 4.00pm
  • Friday 7 February 2025 - 9.00am to 11.00am
