Ask for a copy of CCTV footage

If you are applying for personal information which is captured in CCTV footage, you have right to request a copy of that footage.

However, this is only if the CCTV footage captured constitutes your 'personal data' and you can be clearly identified. If footage captures third parties it may not be possible to release the footage under the Data Protection Act right of access.

If the footage is required to support a criminal investigation, or is subject to an insurance claim, then the police, or insurance company can submit a disclosure request. View Disclosing personal information to other public organisations for more information.

Make a Subject Access Request

Please note that we are unable to provide footage from traffic cameras (overwritten every minute) and weather cameras (overwritten every 10-30 minutes).

Also, note that CCTV Footage is only held for 30 days.
