Covid-19 vaccination

Covid-19 is a highly infectious respiratory illness. The best way to protect yourself and others from Covid-19 is to have the Covid-19 vaccination and boosters.

Please note the Covid-19 booster is currently available and eligible for:

  • residents in a care home for older adults
  • all adults aged 65 years and over
  • persons aged six months to 64 years in a clinical risk group
  • frontline health and social care workers
  • persons aged 12 to 64 years who are household contacts, of people with immunosuppression
  • persons aged 16 to 64 years who are carers, and staff working in care homes for older adults

Within County Durham, both GP practices and some community pharmacy sites are offering Covid-19 vaccines. GP practices use local booking systems and will be contacting patients in priority order to book appointments at your GP practices. Community Pharmacy Sites are available at NHS: book, cancel or change a Covid-19 vaccination appointment.

Free vaccination

The free Covid-19 vaccination is offered on the NHS - find out more at NHS: Covid-19 vaccination. If you're one of the eligible groups, you should make sure you have all of your Covid-19 vaccinations and boosters to protect yourself and others against the virus.

You may also be eligible for the NHS: flu vaccination.
