Seaham Food Festival - what's affected


As a result of Seaham Food Festival, which takes place Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 August 2024 there will be some traffic obstructions in place.

These will be in place from:

  • Saturday 3 August 2024 from 5.00am to 8.00pm
  • Sunday 4 August 2024 from 5.00am to 11.00pm

During this time, the roads in the schedule will be closed to all traffic including pedal cycles and motorcycles, with the exception of emergency vehicles, a restricted number of event vehicles, residents requiring access/exit to and from Marquess Point via southern point of closure on B1287 North Terrace and traders on production of a relevant pass for unloading/loading only before being removed to an offsite car park between the hours of 5.00am and 11.00pm on Sunday 4 August 2024.

All vehicles travelling within the road closure area are limited to 5mph and must have headlights on.

It will also be necessary to prohibit traffic from waiting or loading on:

  • the western side of North Road between its junctions with Dene House Drive and side road adjacent to number 1 North Road
  • the eastern side of North Road extending north from rear Bath Terrace for 158 metres
  • both sides of Tempest Road from the junction of North Road/North Terrace and westward for 25 metres

Schedule

Road closures

B1287 North Terrace from its junction with Tempest Road and southwards to the junction with Marquess Point and incorporating the access road around Terrace Green Car Park that runs from Tempest Road to opposite 12 North Terrace, and also side North Terrace adjacent to numbers 17 and 18.

No waiting / no loading

On the western side of North Road on:

  1. a 45 metre length extending south from its junction with Dene House Road.
  2. a 25 meter length adjacent to numbers 1-4 North Road; and also on the eastern side of North Road.
  3. a 158 metre length extending northwards from the junction with rear Bath Terrace; and also on 25 metre lengths on both sides of Tempest Road extending west from its junction with North Road/North Terrace.

Park and ride

An accessible park and ride service will be in operation for visitors which will run between Spectrum Business Park (SR7 7TT) and the town centre.

Buses will depart from the business park from 9.30am on Saturday and Sunday. The last returning buses will depart from the top of the Harbour Road at 5.30pm on Saturday and 4.30pm on Sunday.

Return tickets cost £2 for adults, 50 pence for children aged five to 15 years old and are free for those under five.

Car parks

Town centre car parks will be open, but they are expected to be busy, and drivers are being asked to be aware of diversions due to road closures for the event.

Terrace Green Car Park will also be closed from midnight on Thursday 1 August until 2.00pm on Monday 5 August. Diversions will be in place and will be signposted.

Drivers are advised to check in advance for roadworks in the area and follow suggested diversion routes:
