About our apprenticeship programme
Do you want to earn while you learn, with the chance of progression once you qualify? Then why not build the foundations of your career with an Apprenticeship at Durham County Council, the largest council in the northeast.
Apprenticeships are for all ages. They provide an excellent pathway for anyone wanting to begin or progress their career.
As an apprentice you will learn from skilled professionals whilst being supported to study towards a recognised qualification (such as an NVQ, HNC, HND or a degree) with a college/university/training provider.
Apprenticeships can take between one and six years to complete, depending on the level.
As an apprentice you will:
- work alongside experienced staff
- gain job-specific skills
- earn a wage and get holiday pay
- be given time for study related to their role (the equivalent of one day a week)
We offer apprenticeships across a variety of areas, including Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Surveying, Procurement, Housing, Leisure, Human Resources, Joinery, Electrician, Plastering, Financial Management and more.
