Highways


Road engineers
Highways are responsible for the maintenance of the Highway Infrastructure across County Durham, including approximately 3,800km of carriageway, 500 road bridges and 80,000 streetlights.  This includes road maintenance, street lighting, drainage and flooding, winter maintenance, traffic management, highway development, bridges and structures.

Roles include: Structural Design Engineer, Civil Engineer, Civil Engineering Technician, Chargehand Electrician, Street Authority Permit Inspector, Highways Superintendent.
