Safeguarding adults training - toxic and closed cultures
Delivered in partnership with Durham Safeguarding Adults Partnership. This training will enable you to understand the definition of a toxic culture, the relevance to adult social care and the link to vulnerability.
Who the course is for
This course is suitable for frontline staff working at a supervisory level either in care management or provider services.
Learning method
The half day course is delivered face to face and includes a presentation, discussion, personal reflection, and group work.
What you will learn
By completing this course, you will:
- Increase awareness and understanding of what is meant by the term 'toxic/closed culture'.
- Appreciate how and why institutional care exists.
- Awareness of damaging features of 'total institutions'
- Understand what is meant by the term 'dehumanisation' and its links to institutional care.
- Increased awareness of what to do when a closed culture is identified.
- Identify key actions on an individual level to support good practice.
