County Durham Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy (JHWS)
The strategy outlines a vision for improving health and wellbeing, and addressing health inequalities in the county.
The strategy
The strategy is developed and agreed by the Health and Wellbeing Board.
The JHWS is a document that informs and influences decisions about health and social care services in County Durham, so that they are focused on the needs of the people who use them and tackle the factors that affect health and wellbeing, for example drugs, alcohol, unhealthy weight, mental and physical wellbeing.

The Health and Wellbeing Board
The Health and Wellbeing Board are responsible for developing the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA), Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy (JHWS) and Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment. They are responsible for encouraging integrated working between commissioners of health services, public health and social care services.
