Alternative bus services


Information about 'on demand' community bus services in County Durham. These services are available when ordinary transport isn't an option because there's no regular service or someone has problems using a regular bus.

Contact Travel Response Centre to book any of these services.

  • Hospital transport services: pre-bookable travel for patients who have trouble getting to appointments such as at the hospital or doctors' surgeries
  • Access bus service: provides people who have limited mobility with a door-to-door transport service to popular shopping and leisure destinations
  • Link2 bus: pre-bookable bus service for people making journeys (up to five miles) where there is no other suitable bus, for example in rural areas where the bus service may be limited - each bus is fully accessible for people with disabilities or mobility problems
  • taxibus services: provide affordable travel at times of the day when it is not possible to offer a regular bus service, including for shift workers and some local routes linking villages and towns
  • Link2work: on demand bus services offering links that are otherwise unavailable to passengers on local buses. These journeys are booked in advance with journeys designed around shift patterns offering you peace of mind that your travel to work is in hand.
